Abducted PCJSS leader released


Rangamati, January 12, 2007: Armed cadres of anti-peace accord United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) on Sunday released a kidnapped leader of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) after 15 days of his abduction, locals and intelligence sources said.

PCJSS leader Sneh Kumar Chakma, also a member of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Regional Council was released by UPDF at around 2 pm on payment of a big amount of money as ransom from an unknown place at Rupakari union in Baghhaichhari upazila, they said.

However, the family members did not specify the amount given to the abductors in exchange of his release.

Later, they brought Sneh Kumar to his house.

Family sources further informed that the abductors did not torture Sneh during 15 days of his captivity.

Sneh Kumar was abducted from his house at Golachhori in Baghaichari upazila on December 24.
