Arson attack on Hindu houses condemned
Dinajpur, January 11, 2007: Bangladesh Hindu Bouddhu Christian Oikya Parishad yesterday strongly condemned the arson attack on 50 houses of Hindu families in Dianjpur.
In a statement, the Parishad said a gang of criminals equipped with sharp weapons attacked the houses at Amuir village under Sundarban union in Sadar Upazila at the dead of night on Sunday when the family members were sleeping.
The gang set fire to 50 houses and threatened to kill all 150 people living there. They also looted all the houses.
At least 22 people were injured in the attack. The family members are now living under the open sky.
Parishad leaders Maj Gen (Retd) CR Dutt, Adv Siril Shikder, Ushatan Talukdar and Prof Nim Chandra Bhowmik demanded immediate arrest of and exemplary punishment to the culprits.
